The Manufacturing Product Modeler (EI-MPM)

is primarily used to modify the configuration of a build to stock.

The assembly/test procedures for build to stock products can be generated as a static sequence by a process engineer using the "Knowledge Editor" or it can be generated dynamically by creating a model using the "Product Modeler".  The procedure is generated dynamically by sending the product model to the "Scheduler" where the pertinent instructions are generated for each of the assembly/test stations that will be used.

The advantage to using this modeling approach is twofold.  The first is that you are able to update all your processes with a simple point and click when components or their placement change in the configuration of your standard products.  The second is that you can schedule a mix of standard products and build to order products on the same assembly/test line.
